Oh really Sandy Rios, So African Americans are to blame for the ignorance of the racist white person?
Are there new ways being devised to undermind the strives that African Americans have made in america? As a black man in America I’m going to make a bold statement and say YES! Moreover, i’m tired of being sold this bill of goods by people in politics elected and entrusted with a responsibility and a duty to protect and ensure democracy for everyone. African Americans have been hearing elected politicians trying to tell us that its alright for African Americans in America, well I disagree, the justice system has just become a little more skewed.
First things first, black men in America are now more than ever being criticized and judged on things that are far removed from the content of their character. For instance, the people that came over to America on the Mayflower seeking religious freedom. But today there are people in and associated with the Republican party that point the finger at our first African American president and accuse him of being a closet Muslim, as if this is not America where religious freedom means just that,FREEDOM!
Other black men in America are now being prosecuted and sent to prison for things said in their rap lyrics. You don’t have to take my word on this, I strongly suggest that readers of my blog Google the cases of two prominent rap artists: Christopher Dorsey (B-Gizzle/B.G) and Torrence Hatch (Lil Boosie). I also feel that now more than ever black people are viewed as suspicious by law enforcement, and we can’t forget about “neighborhood watch”. I mean really, do you know any black man in America that has been imprisoned? I’m sure anyone who has ever mentored a young African American male knows that most times the fathers of those young men are absent from the homes. The Republicans have been touting this message that 70% of African Americans are born out of wedlock, and that is why African Americans are often low income families or individuals. Well my know it all Republican friends I’ll let you in on a little secret, or not such a “little secret”. A lot of these absentee fathers were involved in their kids lives, but when they can’t find good jobs to provide for their families, they turn to the only thing that they see as an option and that is selling drugs, and then they go on a nice long vacation in a state or federal corrections facility. I’m not condoning selling drugs by anyone of any race because, I believe drugs tears a community down, but what happens a lot of the times in the African American communities, instead of law makers and law enforcement being tough on crime, they are being tough on what they like to call black crime, so black men wind up being disproportionately incarcerated.
Being an African American Myself who grew up in a drug and crime infested neighborhood, I was often stopped, detained, and searched by law enforcement. Those of you reading this don’t know that I’m actually blind, but
sometimes the same officers stopped, detained, and searched me. So as you can imagine I find these stop and frisk policies especially distasteful, and I feel that it’s nothing more than a way to assert dominance over blacks and racially profile. The Republican party seem to like these types of policies along with the types of policies that disenfranchises minority voters, and again readers don’t take my word for it, because conservative talk radio host Sandy Rios expanded on the usual right winged narrative about African Americans and race relations in America by saying “White Americans are no longer racist, but just in case they are it’s no fault of their own rather racist black people. By constantly bringing up race have brought out the racist demon in white folks.” She also said ” I think the racist garbage coming from the -uh, a lot of blacks right now are just filled with bitterness and rage.” Now these comments show just how far in actuality the right wing has really advanced when it comes to matters of race relations in this country, and as an African American I resent these statements.
On the contrary African Americans have been extremely forgiving, and not at all in my opinion vocal enough when it comes to these claims that black people are now the racists of this country. We as African Americans haven’t been vocal enough on the issues that I feel should be a cause for African Americans and that’s things like: a cultural and educational government sponsored trip to Africa for African Americans, genetic identification of lost branches on the African family tree, and yes even some reparations.
So I’ll say here and now that Democrats and the Civil Rights community should not be intimidated by this kind of garbage from the right wing. I mean to say, this garbage narrative that any of these things equates to the government giving black people free stuff is meant to discourage reasonable and mature conversation on race relations, and all the other issues that grew out of slavery and continues to DIVIDE AMERICA.
An 8 year old girl from Oakland California gets shot while attending a sleepover. This story underscores what gun reform mean for our children.
I think the Republicans latest messaging and strategy is a bit like being served pizza that has been microwaved, not eaten, microwaved and served again. Hard to take, hard to chew, and damn sure hard to swallow.
Here’s why they won’t reach Latino voters in 2014 and 2016. They do not have the slightest compassion or sympathy that the average person has for the families of these individuals torn apart every single day in America by deportation.
I would like to just go on to say reaching the female block of voters, will prove to be just as big of a problem for a political party that has a derisive view on things like, women’s reproductive rights or fair and equal pay for women which are issues that affect women’s lives structurally, financially, and as well as their overall well-being.
I want to address next the problems that the GOP has with us African American voters.
Understanding the issues that are important to our community, and believe it or not, guns are a big and important issue to us because, our babies and our communities were being taken by gun violence before the epidemic of these mass shooting broke out. And I don’t want to forget about our voting rights, so I’ll be short on this issue. Hands off!!!! Civil Rights will definitely sound the alarm That will bring us out to vote for your opponents in large enough numbers to beat you by a substantial margin.
My final take on the issues that the GOP has in the upcoming elections, is the problem that they have with registered independent voters. The GOP look to them, the way they look to the rest of us. They seem to be more concerned with obstructing economic progress until a Republican is back in the White House, and both houses of Congress are back in control of Republicans, but I have a warning for the GOP, the voters sees right through that strategy, that strategy won’t work and Obamacare won’t either. I can say that with a very high level of certainty because, I live in a very conservative part of Florida and a lot of people that I’ve talked to are definitely in favor of Obamacare.
So everybody get out and vote!!!!
And I hope the ” grand ole party” gives us another ” grand ole primary” GOP.
I warned you on my last blog post that politics is about to get as dirty as we’ve seen American Politics get, so let me call out the GOP. At this point so early in the political game, I think the GOP has revealed what they think is a winning strategy, but I’ve got news for the GOP, this is not a winning strategy. Doing nothing at all.
To me is an American voter, the GOP just can’t strike the right chord to make that song that conveys a winning message. They want to stand in the way of every bit of progress that we make, They also convey a message of heartlessness. For instance, the way they talk about people receiving unemployment benefits. I mean is very stupid to say taking the only income people have in their homes away is an incentive for them tp find work. I don’t think that stacking worries on top of the ones that people already have is going to make it easier for them to find work, but in fact harder. This is something the GOP needs to think about before they start playing games with the lives of real people. I would remind them that not just elections have consequences, but what you do and how we the American people evaluate you and your public service work on behalf of the American people, has consequences as well.
So let me close by saying to Congress, I won’t call you the do nothing Congress, I’ll call you the Phantom Congress, and furthermore you should pass that unemployment benefits extension.
Here’s my final closing sentence on behalf of the American people, PISS OR GET OFF THE POT!!!!
